VBOXTools Setup & Analysis Software
The Racelogic dedicated VBOX Tools software is a very powerful
software analysis package that comes with all data-logging enabled VBOXs. VBOX
Tools has been designed to easy to setup and use, yet very flexible allowing
many custom styles of test to be performed, as well as providing templates of
common test setups.
The software can be used in post processing mode
or real time (live) mode. In real time mode, the VBOX is connected to a PC running VBOX
Tools, and graphs, gauges, numeric displays and text results can be viewed in
real time.
In post processing mode, a '.vbo' file can be
taken from a compact flash card and loaded into the software, allowing the user
to graph, analyse and replay the data.

Report Generator
The Report Generator is the main "numbers engine" in the VBOX Tools
software, and is designed to create a highly configurable table of
results. The software can work on a previously logged '.vbo' file or in
real time connected to the VBOX. There are comprehensive Test Start,
Test End and Test Line triggers based on speed, time, distance, virtual
gates and external triggers. The columns of the table can contain any
parameter logged by the VBOX, and may also show maximums, minimums, and
averages. The scale and offset of any channel is also configurable.

End Conditions setup Export to Mapping software
The latitude and longitude saved by the
VBOX can be exported to the free version of Google Earth, Autoroute, or
any other mapping software which can import latitude and longitude
points.

Kalman Filter
To assist in post processing of files that have
been generated near trees, buildings, or bridges, we have released a powerful
Kalman Filter module. This filter can be used to remove any jumps in position
data, and can also correct any velocity spikes and dropouts. An example is shown
below where some data was taken at a roundabout in a built up area. The red
trace is the original data, and the blue trace is the corrected data.
The Kalman filter is very powerful because it
takes the velocity, heading and position data to extract a corrected velocity
and position output. This is possible because the velocity and heading are
measured using Doppler shift, and the position by GPS triangulation. Combining
the two gives much better results, and is made even better by being able to
process both forwards and backwards through the data.

Output example
All VBOX's with data logging capability come with
the software described above. Registered VBOX users can download all the latest
versions of the modules above. (Software support/ registration is free for the
first 5 years of VBOX ownership.)
